Well, he had the green light, and the fire engine is required to stop, or at least slow down, before running the red. Especially in town, those sirens can be very directional and hard to hear with the windows up. And the guy actually did the right thing by powering through the intersection and not hitting the brakes. He would have been hit by the fire truck, or at the least, stopped in front of it. That said, I never go through a green intersection without scanning first.

Huh, I didn’t see the green.
Still, he started to hit the brakes when he was right in front of the truck, soooo there’s that.

And 6:25 begs a question: why install a hole in the roof of a car intentionally?

I actually went back to see if he had it. Hitting the brakes is the normal response. Fortunately he had a second thought. I've been in a similar situation, though not as close. I never heard the siren until I entered the intersection. So I punched through. People tend to forget that you can also use the gas to avoid a wreck.

So is peacock girl in Austin? Didn’t look right, but I love that there is a public park with free roaming peacocks.

I don’t think so, but it could be. I took the boys to the Austin Zoo last week and there were peacocks roaming all over the place.

The ones I mentioned are at Mayfield Park (just a bit south of Mt. Bonnell, adjacent to the contemporary art museum at Laguna Gloria. Just totally out in the open (peacock crossing signs on the road), though they do have a shelter they can sleep in.
